Possession of 14 grams or more is a misdemeanor punishable by six months of jail time and/or a $500 fine.
This could soon change, as Louisiana lawmakers have proposed legislation that could legalize recreational cannabis in the state. State representative Candance Newell proposed two bills to the House this legislative season, according to Fox 8: HB 17, which would expand the use, production, and selling of recreational cannabis, and HB 24, which would decriminalize possession and distribution of cannabis.
It is too early to know if these bills will pass and become law–but if they do, Delta 9 THC enthusiasts would be able to purchase and possess Delta 9 THC in quantities greater than the federal limit described above.
