What is THC-POV?

THC-A, THC-B, THC-X, THC-O, and now THC-POV? What are these THC-based options and what is THC-POV? With so many different types of THC (and more being discovered every year) there is a whole host of information about the benefits, uses, and applications of how to best use THC products. But don’t worry, we’re here to separate fact from fiction.

Are there differences between all of these variations? What does THC POV stand for? What is THC-POV? All great questions, and we’re here to answer them!

With so many products, types, and options to choose from, it can be a bit overwhelming to say the least. And finding what Delta 9 THC or CBD products work best for you can be even more difficult. You’ve probably seen some of the benefits millions of people enjoy: less stress, better relaxation, faster recovery, everyday pain relief, a better night’s sleep, and so much more. But how do you know if these will work the same for you?\

Is THC-POV the right choice for you? If not, what is the right choice for you and your needs? Let’s dive in and find out.

Key Takeaways

  • THC-POV is a blend of three cannabinoids: THC-P (Tetrahydrocannabiphorol), THC-O (THC Acetate), and THCV (Tetrahydrocannabivarin).
  • While early evidence is anecdotal, THC-POV effects may have therapeutic advantages for the body and mind.
  • The benefits of THC-POV may vary for each person but can offer an alternative option.

What is THC-POV? The Complete Breakdown

So, what is THC-POV? Simply put, it’s just a blend of three different cannabinoids all designed to work together: THC-P, THC-O, and THCV. Much like the famed “full spectrum” effect of multiple hemp-based plant materials (also known as cannabinoids), this blend works together to result in a more complete profile of plant-based benefits.

THC-POV is a by-product of natural ingredients found in the hemp plant that can only be created in a lab. That’s because in order to ensure that all three work together in an effective way, researchers have taken three different types of THC and combined them into one product.

Because THC-POV was only recently discovered, only anecdotal evidence provides information into its uses and benefits. But, much like many of the newer discoveries (like the PHC cannabinoid we’ve recently discussed), there is a lot of potential.

What Does THC POV Stand For?

As mentioned above, THC POV is a blend of three different THC variations: THC-P (Tetrahydrocannabiphorol), THC-O (THC Acetate), and THCV (Tetrahydrocannabivarin). These may all sound like a mouthful, but in reality it’s just a blend of three different cannabinoids all designed to work together. Let's break these three ingredients down even further.

What is THC-P?

THC-P is a cannabinoid found in trace levels within the hemp plant. That just means that it is found at very low levels in its natural state. In order to create products or formulas that result in any actual effects, THC-P is made by synthetically converting more abundant molecules or cannabinoids (like CBD or Delta 9 THC).

This is a fairly common practice, especially as it relates to CBD and THC products, because many beneficial compounds are found at such low levels in their natural state. By simply modifying other cannabinoids to match the make-up of others, we can now produce products that use the natural plant-based benefits.

What is THC-O?

THC-O (also often referred to as THC-O acetate or THC Acetate) is a synthetic cannabinoid that is produced through converting other cannabinoids like delta 8 or delta 9. THC-O vs Delta 9 is a common question with the main distinction being that Delta 9 is naturally occurring and THC-O must be synthetically converted.

Although THC-O is not found naturally, just like THC-P, it must undergo a process of synthetic conversion to result in products that have measurable levels of THC-O.

Early research does suggest that it might be one of the potent cannabinoids. Effects do mirror that of THC in terms of a “high,” but the onset can be quicker and may last longer. Thanks to modern science, we’re continuing to learn more about all the known (and unknown) cannabinoids of the hemp plant!

What is THC-P Versus THC-O?

In terms of THC-P versus THC-O, there are some important differences but also some similarities. The main difference is that THC-O is completely synthetic and was created by design. On the other hand, THC-P can be found naturally in the hemp plant. Just at very low levels.

One similarity between the two is that research has only begun to explore the benefits and uses of these two compounds. But, as with most plant-based scientific discoveries, early research indicates a lot of potential. And that, of course, is a naturally good thing!

What is THCV?

Now the last letter of the acronym: what is THCV? THC differs from the other variations mentioned above in that it can be naturally extracted directly from the plant. It does not need to be synthesized in a lab in order to be created.

Unlike the other synthetically created cannabinoids, THCV is the least psychoactive; meaning it doesn’t really produce a high. Instead, initial anecdotal evidence suggests that it gives an energy buzz and may be an option for those looking to regulate their appetite and metabolism.

How Strong is THCV?

Although it can be found naturally in the hemp plant, and may offer more usable benefits, there are little to no psychoactive effects of THCV. In terms of how strong is THCV, by comparison to other variations, not very strong. That doesn;t mean it’s any less effective, you just need to determine your body’s needs and find the product that works best!

Bonus: How Potent is THC H?

Although not part of what is THC-POV, THC H is a fairly recent discovery that’s quickly gaining popularity. We covered it more in-depthly in our blog, “What is THC-H?” THC H is considered a minor cannabinoid that can be up to 25 times stronger than regular THC. Much like the other cannabinoids discussed above, it occurs at such a small amount in its natural form that it must be synthetically recreated in order to be an ingredient in usable products.

Effects of THC-POV

When it comes to the effects of THC-POV, there is only early anecdotal evidence. That Just means that there have been no official studies observing the effects of THC-POV and any evidence is strictly from early consumers. More research needs to be done before we can determine exactly how it works with the body.

That being said, customers oftentimes refer to it as a less psychoactive version of THC. Rather than a more potent high, it has more mellow and focused effects. It has show some properties like:

  • Alleviating stress
  • Easing everyday anxiety
  • Better relaxation
  • Less stomach discomfort
  • And much more!

Just remember: THC-based products affect everyone differently! Dependent upon some factors like age, weight, health, and underlying conditions, the effects of these products will vary for each individual. Be sure to follow suggested serving size recommendations, especially when trying a new product!

When starting a new routine, be sure to be consistent with your use to have the best results. Maintaining a consistent routine is important because of the way THC and CBD interact with your body.

THC-POV vs Delta 9 THC

If you take one thing away from this article, it’s that THC-POV and Delta 9 THC are not the same thing! THC-POV is a blend of different cannabinoids, and uses a synthetic conversion process. Delta 9 THC occurs at a higher concentration in hemp plants, and therefore does not require any additional conversion methods.

Delta 9 THC products are much more readily available and seemingly more popular. Some of the most popular products include gummies, like our Delta 9 THC gummies. Our gummies utilize a solventless extract known as live rosin. You can learn more about this and other extraction methods in our article, “Live Resin vs Rosin vs Distillate.”

THC-POV Review

More research and continued innovation changes the way we consume CBD and THC products every day. It seems like with each passing year a new building block of the hemp and cannabis plant is being discovered and explored for its potential application and benefits.

THC-POV is just the latest of these innovations created by blending 3 different cannabinoids into one. Although different from the usual THC and delta 9 products available today, it still offers a variety of useful benefits and applications. Most users notate an elevated sense of focus and calm relaxation, without much of a psychoactive effect.

Remember, research is in the early stages. This means that there isn’t enough information about the effects of THC-POV to understand just exactly how it works. That doesn’t mean it won’t work for you! And you always have CBD and THC to turn to for a natural, hemp-based approach to everyday health and wellness.

Brands and manufacturers continue to find new and exciting ways to offer the benefits of the hemp plant to audiences of all types. It’s an exciting time to be an advocate and consumer of hemp-based products, and THC-POV is just the latest innovation to take the industry by storm.
